...One day, you wake up and see fire outside your window. You didn't start it. But you'll have to put it out, too... The events of this work take place in January 2015 in eastern Ukraine, when the front line is rapidly approaching the main character's hometown. Pasha, a thirty-five-year-old Ukrainian language teacher, lives in a city that is about to become the epicenter of military action. He is not interested in politics, does not interfere in conflicts, and just wants to wait out the storm. However, the war leaves him no choice: he has to pick up his nephew from a boarding school, and this becomes a forced journey for Pasha through collapsed infrastructure and destroyed roads, past checkpoints and mined bridges, through the collapse of his familiar world. This novel is a metaphorical journey home that turns into a journey to one's own identity. It is a story of how war forces everyone to define their position, see the true faces of people, and make a choice between indifference and responsibility. The Boarding School is not just a chronicle of events, but a deep exploration of the inner struggle of a person who is looking for answers to the question of who he really is in the chaos of war.
