On the Road

«On the Road» is a cult work of the beat generation and one of the most famous American novels of the 20th century. The novel describes the author's travels through the United States and Mexico with his friend Dean Moriarty. It is written in a spontaneous, jazzy style that Kerouac called "the prose of a wild calm." Crossing the continent from one end to the other, the endless road, hitchhiking and buses, late-night conversations until dawn, poetry, sex, substances and, of course, unbridled jazz. Despite the controversy, «On the Road» remains one of the most popular and influential American novels because of its frank portrayal of sex and drugs.
