Her real name was Daryna Dmytrivna Makohon. She was an active participant in the literary life of Galicia and later, of all Ukraine. From childhood, Iryna Vilde was passionate about reading and literature, which determined her future path. The Soviet era made significant adjustments to the writer's life and work. Despite censorship and restrictions, Vilde continued to write, although many of her works were banned or significantly altered. Iryna Vilde was one of the first Ukrainian female writers who openly addressed the issue of women's fate. She wrote about women's rights, their struggle for self-realization, love, and disappointments.
