«The Novel of Tristan and Isolde» is an eternal story that has profoundly influenced all of Western culture. The legend, whose roots trace back to Celtic myths, existed in the Middle Ages as an epic spread by traveling minstrels. Later in France, the courtly "Romance of Tristan and Iseult" emerged, which inspired prominent authors like Sir Thomas Malory, creator of the King Arthur romances, and Chrétien de Troyes. In the 19th century, French philologist Joseph Bédier collected and adapted different versions of this legend into a modern language, creating a classic interpretation. The Ukrainian translation of this work belongs to the pen of the distinguished Maksym Rylsky. The last time this book was published in Ukrainian was over half a century ago, making it a true bibliographic rarity. This unique edition is complemented by graphic illustrations from the modern Ukrainian artist Oleksandra Nechyporenko, which add new depth to this timeless story of love and betrayal.
