The Dragon's Promise

On her deathbed, Princess Shiori’s stepmother, Raikama, asks her stepdaughter to fulfill one final promise — to return the dragon pearl to its rightful owner. Together with her dragon friend Seryu, Shiori sets out for the underwater kingdom of Ai’long, where not only magic awaits her, but also a web of political intrigue between humans and dragons.
Keeping that promise proves far more difficult than it first seemed. Shiori must fend off thieves determined to seize the precious pearl at any cost, while also pretending to be a proper, impeccable princess to avoid the priests who are ready to burn her for the magic flowing through her blood. The greatest danger, however, lies not outside. Still, within the pearl itself — it pulses with a sinister power that at times saves Shiori and at times betrays her, threatening to destroy her family and sever the thread of fate that binds the princess to her true love, Takkan.
