Styles of 20th-Century Ukrainian Art

The «Styles of Ukrainian Art» project invites readers to immerse themselves in the world of Ukrainian modernism to form a holistic understanding of the artistic environment of the first half of the 20th century.
The book explores three dominant styles of the early 20th century in their organic interaction and evolution. It's more than just a description of each style's features or a narrative about the artists. By juxtaposing different phenomena on facing pages — for example, Art Nouveau and Art Deco train stations, or Secessionist and Futurist landscapes — you'll be able to better perceive the characteristic features of each style and notice the common elements that define Ukrainian modernism.
The authors aim not only to spark interest in Ukrainian modernism but also to encourage local tourism. That’s why the text pays special attention to works from Ukrainian museums, includes a map of landmarks, and highlights the connections between people and movements with specific locations.
