«Reykjavík: Nordic Noir» is a collaborative work by Icelandic writer and lawyer Ragnar Jónasson and politician Katrín Jakobsdóttir, who has served as Prime Minister of Iceland since 2017. It was named one of the best crime novels of 2023 by The New York Times. The book is set in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 1956. A fifteen-year-old girl named Laura, who worked for a young couple, disappears without a trace from the island of Viðey, just off the coast of Reykjavík. Years go by, and the case remains unsolved. Only thirty years later, at the city's anniversary celebration, journalist Valur Róbertson once again tries to solve the mystery of the girl's disappearance. But someone is stubbornly trying to keep this case unsolved...
