Embraces

Ludmyla Taran’s new collection of prose is a subtle and deeply moving journey through the labyrinths of the female soul.

The author introduces us to heroines in whom it is so easy to recognize ourselves, along with our fears and our hopes. Together with them, we live through moments that change everything: a young artist’s trip to a castle in Transcarpathia that turns into an unexpected fateful encounter; a sudden phone call from the past that makes the heart beat faster; or a mysterious journey to Paris arranged by a secret benefactor. A special place is given to stories about life in times of war — when the world around us is falling apart, and the only refuge from fear is the embrace of those who are near. For despite all distances, years, and trials, life goes on writing its own unpredictable plots, in which love remains the greatest force.
