Before the Third Crowing: Marko Vovchok

This book is a ticket into the dark labyrinths of Ukrainian classics. Forget the familiar realist sketches: here, well-known plots are transformed into chilling tales of desire, death, and the supernatural.
The collection includes The Institute Girl and Pavlo Chornokryl, Nine Brothers and a Tenth Sister, Halia, Spells and The Mother-in-Law, The Devil’s Adventure, Two Dashes from Our Rusalkas, and other works.
This edition is for those who want to discover another face of our literature—mystical, unsettling, and irresistibly compelling.
