Edgar Allan Poe

An American writer, poet, and literary critic, he is considered one of the founders of the detective novel genre and one of the most prominent representatives of American Romanticism. Poe's life was no less mysterious than his works. Orphanhood, constant relocations, and complex relationships with relatives all left their mark on his creative output. His dark and melancholic poems and stories often reflected his inner world, full of longing and anxiety. Poe was also one of the first writers to experiment with the detective novel genre.
