The Fall of Gondolin

«The Fall of Gondolin» is an epic novel by J.R.R. Tolkien that tells the tragic story of the great Elven city of Gondolin.
Set in the First Age of Middle-earth, Gondolin, built on the top of an inaccessible mountain, remains hidden from its enemies for many years. Its ruler, Turgon, seeks to protect his people from the cruel Morgoth, the Dark Lord of Mordor. However, the secret of Gondolin cannot be kept forever. The traitor Túrin Turambar, driven by a curse, leads the Orcs to the gates of the city. Gondolin faces a terrible battle in which its defenders die heroically.
The novel is full of drama and emotion. It depicts not only the battle and destruction but also the deep emotions of the Elves: their loyalty, courage, and despair.
