Pokrov

The novel «Pokrov» takes the reader through the centuries, introducing them to the fates of seven generations of descendants of the wealthy chorunzhyi Yarema Dorosh. His sinful love with the young Perpetua becomes the beginning of a fatal curse that befalls the family. Yarema's offended wife, a noblewoman, curses the descendants, prophesying misfortune and childlessness for them. Perpetua, forced to flee from Chernihiv region, goes to distant Katerynoslav, where she tries to give her children a better life. She bequeaths them a chest of gold, but on condition that the two branches of the Yarema family should never unite.

The descendants of the chorunzhyi live in different times, face different challenges and tragedies. Their fates are intertwined with historical events, from the Cossack wars to the Revolution of Dignity.
