Lesʹ Belei has collected stories from Ukrainians and foreigners who are actively resisting Russian aggression. The book covers a wide range of experiences: from soldiers on the frontlines to volunteers and civilians helping from the rear. Each story is a unique piece of life that helps to better understand what Ukrainians are going through during the war. The youngest heroine of the book is a girl who was 7 years old at the time of the interview; she made dolls from yarn and sold them to raise money for a thermal imager for her grandfather. The oldest heroine was 91 years old. She was born during the Holodomor, survived the war, and joined the volunteer movement back in 2014. The book will be a valuable document for future generations, telling the story of contemporary Ukrainian history through the eyes of its participants.
