Quintus Horatius Flaccus, the celebrated "rhythm-rich" lyricist, author of colorful «Satires» and philosophical «Epistles» left us a unique and diverse poetic mosaic of life, vividly echoing in colors and tones with the realities of our time. Imbued with the ideas of freedom-loving Hellenes, the singer of spiritual balance and harmony of the soul, he is the brightest exponent of the entire Greco-Roman culture. A sensual and virtuoso lyricist, a melancholically smiling thinker and theorist of poetry, Horace had a colossal impact on European, including Ukrainian, culture. «I am a man, and nothing human is alien to me» — Horace could rightfully say about himself in the words of Terence; that is why he is interesting and close to the reader of all times. An updated, complete, and extensively commented translation of Horace's works into Ukrainian is being published for the first time. This translation opens up for the modern reader the depth of thought, mastery of words, and the relevance of the themes raised by the Roman poet.
