Not a Saint

Debut novel of Ukrainian journalist Hleb Gusev. The novel tells the story of Artem Shcherbakov, a young man who is looking for himself in the turbulent world of modern Ukraine. Through the pages of a diary kept by a boy and addressed to his father, whom he never saw, the reader learns about his difficult childhood spent in Turkmenistan, about various life trials that he had to go through: from raiding in Mariupol to working as a waiter and looking for happiness in America . The author is not afraid to touch on hot social topics such as war, corruption and addictions. Gleb Gusev creates a bright and multifaceted image of the main character, which is not idealized, but, on the contrary, very real and alive.
