The book «Purgatorio» offers the reader a new Ukrainian translation of the second part of Dante's «Divine Comedy», performed by Maksym Strikha. The translator sought not only to accurately reproduce the content and poetic form of Dante's masterpiece, but also to give the reader a feel for the living, dynamic language of the original.
Maksym Strikha's translation differs from the previous version by Yevhen Drob'azko in its greater freshness and boldness. The translator does not shy away from using a variety of styles, from high to low, and also from deviating from established literary norms. This makes his translation more accessible to the modern reader.

The book contains an extensive preface that tells about Dante as the co-creator of the theological concept of Purgatory — a "temporary hell" where guilty but not lost souls atone for their sins in order to be admitted to Heaven.
An anthology of Ukrainian poems dedicated to Dante. This anthology, which covers the period from Panas Kulish to Olena O'Liyr, testifies to the influence of Dante on Ukrainian culture.
«Purgatorio», like «Inferno», is illustrated with miniatures from the Sienese Codex of the 15th century, which are attributed to the Italian artist Priamo della Quercia.
