Behind the scenes of the empire

Much has been written about the relationship between Ukraine and Russia from the point of view of Russian interests, taking away Ukraine's heritage. But from the Ukrainian perspective, the picture looks completely different. For centuries, Ukrainian literature has been the mouthpiece of the anti-colonial discourse, offering different models of identity and asserting cultural self-sufficiency.
