Apples of War

The story centers on a Ukrainian family who immigrated to America after World War I. The father, a former soldier in the Ukrainian Galician Army, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. The mother, despite all the hardships, tries to stay optimistic and take care of her loved ones. Their daughter, Sofiika, gets used to a new life in a foreign country.
The story takes on a new meaning when Sofiika learns about the amazing intertwining of the fates of people from different countries who once belonged to the same empire. This story, sometimes sad, sometimes funny, explores the themes of historical heritage and overcoming trauma.
