One of the most outstanding figures in the history of philosophy. His ideas continue to influence thinkers to this day, although he lived in Ancient Athens in the 5th-4th centuries BC.
He was a student of the famous philosopher Socrates. Plato believed that true knowledge is knowledge of ideas. Sensory perception can only give incomplete and deceptive knowledge of the world.
