Collection: Mykhailo Soroka
A prominent figure in the history of the Ukrainian national liberation movement. Mykhailo Soroka was born in Lviv region. From a young age, he was actively involved in the nationalist movement and became a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). His patriotism and determination quickly made him one of the leaders of the OUN youth wing. For his active activities, Mykhailo Soroka was repeatedly persecuted by both Polish and Soviet authorities. He was arrested and imprisoned in Polish concentration camps, and after World War II, in Soviet ones. Despite torture and imprisonment, Soroka did not break and continued to fight for Ukraine's independence. After his release from prison, Mykhailo Soroka became the leader of the OUN Kraiova Executive. Under his leadership, the OUN conducted an active underground struggle against the Soviet occupation. After the war, Mykhailo Soroka emigrated to the United States, where he continued his fight for Ukraine's independence. He was actively involved in public activities and was one of the leaders of the Ukrainian diaspora.
