A prominent figure in the history of Ukrainian literature, he is rightfully considered its founder. Kotliarevsky was the first to prove that the Ukrainian language is capable of expressing any thought or feeling. His works contributed to the formation of the literary Ukrainian language and became a model for subsequent generations of writers.
